The IMF
The International Myeloma Foundation (IMF)
was founded in 1990 with the firm belief that
no one should ever have to face myeloma alone.
Multiple myeloma is a complex, and often
misdiagnosed, cancer of the bone marrow
that attacks and destroys bone. At least 20,000
people will receive this diagnosis in the next year.
Before the days of the Internet, email, and social networking,
there was Brian Novis, a determined man with a telephone and a typewriter.
Brian understood that knowledge was a crucial weapon in the battle against
myeloma. His dream was for patients to have up-to-date information about
myeloma treatment, along with a way for people to come together to share their
experiences. His vision is the driving force behind everything the IMF does today.
Today, the IMF is the world's largest and oldest organization dedicated to myeloma.
The IMF focuses its efforts in four key areas: education, research, support, and advocacy.
The IMF serves more than 195,000 patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare
professionals in 113 countries, and has become the leading international gateway
for information and resources in the fight against myeloma.

Annual Comedy Celebration
In late 2006, renowned actor Peter Boyle (Young Frankenstein, Everybody Loves Raymond)
lost his battle with multiple myeloma. The following year, his wife, Loraine Alterman Boyle,
chaired the 1st Annual Comedy Celebration. The event,
hosted by Ray Romano, was a tribute to the comedic
actor and was attended by many of his closest friends,
including cast mates on Raymond and comedy
superstars Martin Short, Fred Willard and Richard
Lewis. Since then, we have had sell-out performances
from comedy greats such as Jeff Garlin, Kevin James,
Jason Alexander, and Dana Carvey, as well as musical
performances by Dan Aykroyd and Jim Belushi as The
Blues Brothers, as well as Tenacious D with Jack Black
and Kyle Gass.
On Saturday, November 5, 2011 the IMF's 5th Annual Comedy
Celebration will be held at the historic Wilshire Ebell Theatre
and Club in Los Angeles, California. The event will be hosted by
Everybody Loves Raymond star Ray Romano and and feature
appearances from top comedians to be announced as they are
confirmed.. The event will include a pre-show cocktail reception in
the elegant Ebell Club House and a special VIP Cast Party with the
performers after the show. We anticipate a sold-out event again this
year, with more than 1,100 anticipated to attend. All proceeds from
this event will support the IMF's ground-breaking research programs.
The Peter Boyle Memorial Fund
As we enter the era of "tailored treatment," with new
therapies and approaches aimed at customizing treatment
for each myeloma patient's specific needs, the IMF leads
the way in collaborative, innovative research in pursuit of
improving myeloma treatment, identifying causes, and
ultimately finding a cure. The Peter Boyle Memorial
Fund was established to provide additional funding for
research into both the cause and cure for this devastating
disease. Since its creation five years ago, the Peter Boyle Memorial Fund has supported several
significant discoveries that bring us tangibly closer to reaching our goal.

The IMF currently serves 195,000 members worldwide. A majority of our members read
