Biopsies:
  Bone Marrow Biopsies
Bone marrow biopsies are used to diagnose and monitor myeloma. They provide information about the amount of disease, its aggressiveness, the type of disease and molecular/genetic abnormalities
Blood and Urine:
  Immunoelectropheresis
Measures immunoglobulins in the blood or urine. Immunoglobulins are produced by plasma cells, including most myeloma cells
  INTERNATIONAL STAGING SYSTEM (ISS)
  The ISS, an updated staging system for myeloma, is a collaborative research initiative with nearly 20 institutions from around the world.
  Freelite
  This new test measures free light chains in the blood
Imaging:
  Imaging Techniques
X-rays, MRIs, PET scans and other nuclear scans are used to detect myeloma bone disease and monitor disease activity.
