IMF to Utilize Multimedia Approach to Bring Breaking News, Highlights to Patients in U.S.

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA  (April 4, 2005) – The International Myeloma Foundation (IMF) announced today that it will be reporting highlights of the prestigious 10^th International Myeloma Workshop daily through their e-mail newsletter Myeloma Minute, their web site (www.myeloma.org), and through a print and DVD guide. The International Myeloma Workshop is the premiere meeting regarding multiple myeloma, and focuses on important advances in myeloma diagnosis, treatment, and research. The Workshop is being held April 10-14 in Sydney , Australia . 

“This is such an important meeting that we wanted to find ways for patients to have access to the breaking news each day,” said Susie Novis, IMF President. “Using a variety of tools- both electronic and print- will help ensure that myeloma patients around the world can find out about the latest studies in myeloma as they are being presented in Australia.”

In addition to the daily updates and highlights that will be available through email and on the IMF web site, the IMF is also producing a CME-accredited guide to the meeting entitled, ”The Comprehensive Guide to Sydney.”   In this publication, key authors will summarize the data presented at each plenary session. Professor Douglas Joshua, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the International Myeloma Workshop will serve as the executive editor.

IMF Chairman Brian G.M. Durie will present at a number of plenary sessions and will chair a session entitled, ”Evolving Myeloma.”  The IMF, a sponsor of the Workshop, will also be holding a number of closed meetings for their Scientific Advisory Board and International Myeloma Working Group.
