A couple of days ago, I
sent an email to a member I had worked with last year. She did an event
called Fishing For A Cure, and I wanted to wish her a Happy New Year.
When I first spoke with her last year, she was mourning the loss of her
husband to myeloma, and she was feeling helpless and alone. She knew she
wanted to "do" something but didn't know if she could pull herself together
enough to organize an event and was especially intimidated at asking friends
for donations. I assured her that she would be surprised at the people
who would come out of the woodwork to help her accomplish her goals. I
also worked with her throughout the pre-planning of her event, which included
dinner, music, auctions, etc., and in the end, she was astounded at the amount
of money raised at the event, as well as the number of people who worked to
help her, or attended, or both.My name is Suzanne Battaglia. As the Director of Member Events, it would be my pleasure to introduce you to the many creative ways that you can help the IMF reach its goal to bring education and awareness to all communities by hosting your own event.
Since 1997, I've been working with IMF members just like you to create and produce their own member fundraisers for the IMF. They range from garage sales to musical festivals, from bake sales to afternoon tea and luncheons, and our members range in age from 8 to 80!
If you have any questions about the IMF's Member FUNdraisers program, or would like to set up your own member fundraiser, please contact me at 800-452-CURE (2873) or by email at SBattaglia@myeloma.org.
