Support Groups

The IMF is often asked by patients if we know of support groups in their areas where they can meet others dealing with myeloma. There is a worldwide network of more than 150 myeloma support groups that hold regular meetings for members of the myeloma community.

Although the IMF does not sponsor these groups, we support their efforts and conduct annual summits for myeloma support group leaders. We encourage you to seek them out. Use the menu below for a list of the groups that we are aware of in your area.

United States : New York

New York City/Manhattan - Mount Sinai
This group, founded in 1995, meets on the 3rd Thursday of each month from 7:00 - 8:00 PM at Mount Sinai Medical Center, 1425 Madison Avenue, between 98th and 99th Streets, Room 4-82, New York, NY.  For those driving, there is a public parking lot on 99th Street, between Park and Madison.  Mount Sinai has arranged a special parking rate of $5 for people attending the group.  For more information, please contact Mike Katz at 917-692-4167 or by E-mail at mkatz@myeloma.org, or visit the group website at http://newyork.myeloma.org.

New York City/Manhattan - Weill-Cornell
A comprehensive education and support group, founded in 2007, is offered at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center for multiple myeloma patients and caregivers. Facilitated by Cara Beth Lombardi, LMSW, the group meets monthly from6:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday evenings.
