An IMF-sponsored lunch symposium for oncology nurses who care for patients with multiple myeloma attending the Oncology Nursing Society's 34th Annual Congress in San Antonio, Texas from April 30 - May 3, 2009.
Novel therapies provide hope for extended disease-free periods for multiple myeloma patients. The International Myeloma Foundation’s (IMF) Nurse Leadership Board (NLB) will discuss the key long-term sequelae and side effects of multiple myeloma and its treatment. In addition, this symposium will introduce the leadership role nurses can engage in by implementing long-term survivorship care for their patients. Survivorship care planning allows for optimal management of emergent late-term effects and improves patients’ quality of life.
