Lights, Camera, Cure!
15th Anniversary Ribbon of Hope Gala - November 12, 2005
Sat, Nov 12, 2005

Where:
Beverly Hilton Hotel
Los Angeles, CA

The IMF is celebrating its 15th Anniversary Gala Hollywood style with Lights, Camera, Cure! on November 12th at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, home of the Golden Globes.

The IMF leads the way in collaborative research for myeloma and has been since the formation of the Working Group in 2001. This year our Gala honorees mirror our commitment to collaboration and reflect this dynamic research landscape.

This year’s individual honoree is Dr. David Agus of Cedar’s Sinai Medical Center - Louis Warschaw Prostate Cancer Center. Dr. Agus’ research in proteomics reveals valuable information regarding "on" and "off" switches of cancer and ultimately a more complete understanding of the various factors that influence cancer.

This year’s corporate honoree is Affymetrix, a pioneer in creating breakthrough tools for genomic research. By applying the principles of semiconductor technology to the life sciences, Affymetrix developed and commercialized systems that enable scientists to improve quality of life. These machines produced by Affymetrix are the cornerstone of the IMF’s Bank On A Cure program, providing the tools to process myeloma patients’ DNA.

We are thrilled to announce that Robert Klein—actor, comedian, director, composer and author—will provide the Gala’s featured entertainment. A native of Bronx, NY, Mr. Klein is best known for his unique brand of observational humor, appearing as a regular guest of Johnny Carson’s on “The Tonight Show” and twice hosting “Saturday Night Live.” Mr. Klein is also a Tony-nominated musical theater performer and has appeared in over 100 films and television shows. Most recently he has published his new memoir, “The Amorous Busboy of Decatur Avenue.”
