FUNdraising Events

Member Fundraisers
You know you want to do something in your community to raise funds and public awareness about myeloma, but deciding on what to do can be confusing. The IMF's FUNdraising program can help you. We have over 12 years of experience helping members around the world raise money for research and educational programs.

We can give your event or campaign its own web page, allowing your friends and family to donate online. Below you will find a listing of events we have going on throughout the year, and we would be happy to add yours as well. In addition, this year we’re debuting a new magazine called "Making Miracles," in which we highlight IMFers who are proactive in our mutual goals: helping to find a cure for myeloma and at the same time, spreading awareness in their local communities.

FUNdraising is fun (get it?) and easy to do, and you'll have the satisfaction of knowing that you made a difference. No idea is too large or too small. Everyone knows someone who has been touched by cancer—people will want to help! We are here to provide you with the tools, assistance and expertise you'll need to make your FUNdraiser a success. Get started today, by contacting our dedicated staff person, Suzanne Battaglia, SBattaglia@myeloma.org or (800) 452-2873. She is here to chat with you about any ideas you might have. Be part of the progress of making miracles happen!
Ava & Cece's RACE TO BEAT MYELOMA
Our names are Ava and Cece Fainberg and we live in Chevy Chase, MD. On May 2, 2015, with our family and friends, we will host a walk & run to support the International Myeloma Foundation (IMF). Our grandfather, Benson Klein, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 1998 (before we were born), and the IMF has been very near to our hearts ever since. Myeloma is a cancer of plasma cells, which are found in bone marrow. Among other symptoms, this disease can cause tumors in bones and can compromise the immune system.

March Against Myeloma 2015
Saturday, May 2nd will be a day to honor my mom, as well as all cancer fighters world-wide, by celebrating the finale of a fundraising campaign to benefit the International Myeloma Foundation. Come on out to the banks of the beautiful Merced River for a river cleanup, BBQ, and lawn games! The river cleanup will begin at 3pm and go until 5pm. After all the hard work we’ll prepare for the amazing BBQ, go swimming in the river, and play all kinds of lawn games. Some drinks will be provided (like my personally brewed IPA), but please bring your own potluck style dish, and your musical instruments to play around the campfire. There is some camping available on a first come, first serve basis.

Cincinnati Flying Pig Half Marathon
Miracles happen when pigs fly, and they do in Cincinnati, OH! We are running the Cincinnati Flying Pig Half Marathon (our 4th half marathon) on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at 6:30 a.m. Even if you are unable to join us for the Flying Pig Marathon events, we need your help. Last year with your generous donations we raised $3,100 for the International Myeloma Foundation. We would love to continue to increase our fundraising efforts and exceed that amount this year!

2nd Annual Red House Carnival
All are welcome to “The Red House Carnival!” Your admission ticket ($40 for individuals, $70 for a team) will enter you into a water pong tournament - which will be played with water due to blue laws - and allow you to enjoy great craft beer and delicious food. There will also be carnival games offered. So partner with a friend, make your team name as punny as possible, and let’s raise a cold one for the myeloma community!

Many Blooms of Life
The “Many Blooms of Life” was the second quilt I ever made. I didn’t begin quilting until November 2010 while going through my third stem cell transplant – allo (donated stem cells from my sister Kelley). A little over four years later with more than 30 quilts under my needle, it only felt right to donate and raffle my “Many Blooms of Life” quilt and raise money for the International Myeloma Foundation (IMF). IMF has diligently helped so many survivors, families and caregivers who are living with multiple myeloma. Join me and my Multiple Myeloma Support Group Team raise money by purchasing a $5.00 raffle ticket for the “Many Blooms of Life” quilt.
