Slide Set from the 2009 ONS Annual Congress Satellite Symposium
Leading the Way: Managing Multiple Myeloma for the Long-Term
PowerPoint presentation of the slides presented on May 1, 2009 by the Nurse Leadership Board in an accredited satellite symposium in conjunction with the 34rd Annual Congress of the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) in San Antonio, Texas.

Novel therapies provide hope for extended disease-free periods for multiple myeloma patients. At the IMF-sponsored lunch symposium for oncology nurses who care for patients with multiple myeloma, the IMF's Nurse Leadership Board (NLB) discussed the key long-term sequelae and side effects of multiple myeloma and its treatment. In addition, this symposium introduced the leadership role nurses can engage in by implementing long-term survivorship care for their patients. Survivorship care planning allows for optimal management of emergent late-term effects and improves patients' quality of life.
