JCAHO Sets Pain Managment Standards
New standards for patient pain management have been adopted by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). Healthcare providers must comply with these standards to receive accreditation by JCAHO. The standards require healthcare organizations to assess pain when patients are diagnosed, to reassess patients throughout treatment on an ongoing basis, and to educate patients and caregivers about pain management.

IMFer Gets Award
Stephanie Colman, IMF Director of Community Relations and Public Affairs has received an award from the Public Relations Society of America for her work on behalf of the IMF.

Phoenix Support Group Hosts the IMF
While in Arizona for the WAM 2000 educational symposium, IMF Board Chairman Brian G.M. Durie and President Susie Novis attended a meeting of the Phoenix myeloma support group. Visiting with local groups has become a tradition for the IMF. Similar meetings have taken place in Florida, Georgia, and California.
