Latest Myeloma Research, Live IMF Webcasts from American Society of Hematology Meeting

Earlier treatments, longer treatments and smarter treatments will "become the standard of care for myeloma patients," said Brian G.M. Durie, M.D., Chairman and Co-founder of the IMF, about the myeloma research presented at this year's annual meeting of the American Society of Hematology (ASH), which begins Saturday in New Orleans. "The IMF will be hosting several educational events at ASH and two Webcasts for people who cannot get to New Orleans in person," added IMF President and Co-founder Susie Novis. "We remain committed to supporting myeloma patients in the United States and around the world – through research, education and advocacy." READ MORE HERE

Help Canadians Living with Myeloma

Myeloma Canada, an international affiliated partner of the IMF, is participating in a Canadian government funding review process for the treatment of myeloma with pomalidomide (Pomalyst®) and needs our help. To participate in this review process, Myeloma Canada needs to gather information from myeloma patients and caregivers who have experience with pomalidomide. If you or someone you care for has used pomalidomide, please take 20 minutes to complete this survey. The close date and time for the survey is 5:00 p.m. Friday, December 20th, 2013. Thank you! The IMF Welcomes the Myeloma Foundation of Australia as its Newest Affiliate

The IMF is thrilled to announce that the Myeloma Foundation of Australia has now become affiliated with the IMF. Brian Rosengarten, a pharmacist, helped start the organization 15 years ago after his wife Roslyn was diagnosed with myeloma. Today, the group has divisions in Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales. We are honored to be aligned with this great organization, whose mission is “to facilitate myeloma research… to support and inform those living with the disease and educate those involved in its care and treatment.” Welcome to the family!

IMF's New Site Helps Cancer Patients Navigate Health Insurance Marketplace

The deadline to enroll in a new health insurance marketplace has been extended from December 15 to December 23 for coverage beginning January 1, 2014. The IMF knows how difficult shopping for insurance can be with cancer and we want to remind you of the resources we have to help you. We have launched a new site with the most supportive information we can find for myeloma patients regarding health care reform. Along with 19 other cancer organizations, we have put together the Cancer Insurance Checklist to help you compare which plan is right for you. Use this helpful decision-making tool and the Multiple Myeloma Insurance Questionnaire to make sure your special needs are covered. CHECK OUT OUR NEW PAGE
