The Good, the Bad, and the Debatable: Digesting the Latest Food News
A new book of historic recipes, unhealthful snack food, and the current mania for juicing are all food for thought this week in IMF Chairman Dr. Brian Durie's latest blog. Long before today's molecular gastronomists ruled the roost, our forebears knew the key to "real food"—fresh ingredients, simply prepared. "Trying to eat and drink in a healthy way takes attention and work!" he writes. READ DR. DURIE'S BLOG
International Myeloma Working Group Member Research in the News
Members of the IMF's International Myeloma Working Group (IMWG) are co-authors on two recently published myeloma research studies. A study in Leukemia Research, whose co-authors include IMWG members Dr. Melissa Alsina and Dr. William Dalton, examined whether the sequence of administration of novel agents resulted in improved outcomes. A study in Pharmacology, whose co-authors include IMWG member Dr. Robert Orlowski, concluded that JNJ-26854165 (serdemetan) functions in part by inhibiting cholesterol transport, and suggests that this pathway is a potential new target for the treatment of mantle cell lymphoma and multiple myeloma.
Team Spirit Fuels July's Advocates of the Month
