Susie Novis was interviewed by cancer survivor and former journalist Andrew Schorr for his health website PatientPower at the 2012 American Society of Hematology (ASH) meeting in Atlanta. | The IMF's Nurse Leadership Board will have a poster at the International Myeloma Workshop (IMW), a biennial event held this year in Kyoto, Japan, April 3-7. The Nurse Leadership Board (NLB) is made up of nurses from the leading centers treating myeloma patients in the U.S. This is the third consecutive IMW Workshop at which the NLB will have a poster. Also recently announced was the IMW's acceptance of a poster presentation by 2012 Brian D. Novis Senior Grant winner Dr. Nancy Krett. Congratulations to all! |

| Proof that an individual can make a big difference comes from February Advocate of the Month Lyle Drier. In her home state of Wisconsin Drier pushed lawmakers to pass a bill that makes co-pays for oral chemotherapy more affordable. More recently, she joined the IMF's Postcards for Parity program, collecting on her own and with friends 230 Wisconsin cards in two months! She got involved with myeloma advocacy for two main reasons: first, as a six-year myeloma survivor herself she has suffered the inequity of treatment coverage; and second, "It is nice to be able to help people who need it."
