The IMF was proud to participate in the Blood Cancer Advocacy Day held on June 21, 2001 in Washington, DC and at the Congressional Hearing that was held on June 22nd. Blood Cancer Advocacy Day was an outcome of the ongoing work being done as a part of the Lymphoma, Leukemia & Myeloma Progress Review Group (LLM-PRG).
This important event was made possible and was a success because of the hard work and efforts by the following patient advocacy groups:
o Lymphoma Research Foundation of America
o Carson Advocates for Cancer Victims
o MAMM Magazine
o Judith & George Goldman Foundation for Fighting Catastrophic Diseases
o Cure For Lymphoma Foundation
o The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
o Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation
o Association of Cancer Online Resources
o Waldenstrom?s Macroglobulinemia Foundation
o National Coaliation for Cancer Survivorship
I would like to thank Dr. Ken Anderson for testifying on behalf of the IMF and the MMRF and especially commend the hard work and efforts of Ilene Penn Miller of Cure For Lymphoma (CFL), Kathy Giusti of Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) and George Dahlman of Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) on behalf of the entire blood cancer community. They helped make this event a huge success.
