A Support Group Blooms in Staten Island
Beginning Wednesday, January 9, myeloma patients and caregivers in Staten Island, New York will no longer have to make the 45-minute drive to Somerset, New Jersey to attend support group meetings. The borough, which was hard hit by Hurricane Sandy, now has its own group. "The response has been amazing," says Laura Mooney, who with her husband, Charles, have formed the Staten Island Multiple Myeloma Support Group. "Nobody knows what to do with this illness. You can go online, but nothing beats meeting in person with others who are going through the same thing." The group will meet at 7 p.m. ET at Time Warner Cable, 900 South Avenue, 2nd Floor, Suite 201 (located in the Corporate Park of Staten Island). For more information, contact Laura Mooney at (718) 390-7008 or (718) 524-6970 or by email at SImyeloma@gmail.com
