IMF Nurse Leadership Board Issues Guidelines on Stem Cell Transplants

The IMF Nurse Leadership Board's guidelines on stem cell transplants are the focus of this month's supplement to the Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing. Autologous Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (AHSCT) continues to be a lifesaving option, notwithstanding improved survival rates thanks to novel agents. The articles in this supplement analyze the AHSCT procedure, the changing landscape of multiple myeloma care, processes to support caregivers, blood and marrow transplantation updates, and questions oncology nurses may have about the transplantation process. Good News for Ohio's Cancer Patients

After years of delay in Ohio, important oral anticancer treatment legislation made it over a major hurdle last week in the State Senate. Senate Bill 99, the Cancer Treatment Modernization Act, passed out of the Senate Insurance and Financial Institutions Committee with a unanimous vote! We are working to make sure SB 99 will receive the support of the full Senate after lawmakers return in January from their holiday break. Use your voice to make sure SB 99 stays a priority next year. Help Canadians Living with Myeloma

Myeloma Canada, an international affiliated partner of the IMF, is participating in a Canadian government funding review process for the treatment of myeloma with pomalidomide (Pomalyst®) and needs our help. To participate in this review process, Myeloma Canada needs to gather information from myeloma patients and caregivers who have experience with pomalidomide. If you or someone you care for has used pomalidomide, please take 20 minutes to complete this survey. The close date and time for the survey is 5:00 p.m. Friday, December 20th, 2013.Thank you!
