NYPD Officer With Myeloma Among the More Than 1,100 Who Have Cancer After 9/11

As the country marked the anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks last week, the World Trade Center Health Program told CNN that approximately 1,140 people have been certified to receive cancer treatment under the WTC Health Program, including NYPD officer Reggie Hilaire (right), who worked without a mask at ground zero. The numbers are the first released since the WTC program was expanded a year ago. At that time, IMF Chairman Brian GM Durie, MD, registered support for the inclusion of myeloma as a cancer resulting from the 9/11 terrorist attacks in a letter to the WTC program here. Even if you have sent them an email or signed a postcard, let's continue to remind them that they can make a difference for cancer patients across the country by supporting legislation equalizing the out-of-pocket cost for oral anticancer treatments.
