In an important blog post, IMF Chairman Dr. Brian Durie shares more information from Dr. Stephen Russell who, along with his team at the Mayo Clinic, treated a myeloma patient with a massive dose of engineered measles virus in a clinical trial. Many are wondering: if this virus is so strong that it can destroy myeloma, why isn't it causing a raging case of measles? CLICK HERE to read Dr. Durie's blog with the enlightening answer.

IMF's Michael S. Katz Wins ASCO's Partners in Progress Award

Congratulations to IMF Executive Board member Michael S. Katz, who won the American Society of Clinical Oncology's (ASCO) 2014 Partners in Progress Award! It is awarded annually to a patient advocate who has made "significant contributions in the field of cancer care." Since he began volunteering with the IMF in 1990, the year he was diagnosed with myeloma, Mike has made countless contributions to the field of myeloma. Mike credits IMF President and Co-Founder Susie Novis for inspiring his start as a patient advocate. "She brought me in to help IMF set up its database and [introduced me to] the work the Foundation was doing with seminars for patients and their families. Being in a room with 200 patients with myeloma and informing them that [they] can live well with this disease over the long term is incredible," said Mike. READ MORE
