From the Hotline Team: Answers to Your Questions About ImMucin Cancer Vaccine  

In the wake of recent news about the ImMucin cancer vaccine trial ongoing at Hadassah Medical Center in Israel, the IMF has been deluged with inquiries. We asked Dr. Lior Carmon, CEO of Vaxil BioTherapeutics, about the opening of a phase III trial and the availability of published data on phase II results. Dr. Carmon responded: "We have released interim results on a sample of patients. We hope to release final results at the end of this year. People who wish to inquire if they are eligible to participate in the clinical trial should refer to our website. However, we currently only have centers in Israel. Looking forward we are planning to do a Phase II study which will have centers abroad, including possibly in the US."

Governors in Delaware and Virginia Sign Legislation Equalizing Oral Drug Reimbursement
 
The IMF Advocacy team was on the ground as Delaware Governor Jack Markell signed the Delaware Cancer Treatment Access Act on Tuesday in Dover, DE. "It's encouraging to see states recognize that policy needs to keep pace with medical advances that offer lifelines to patients who have exhausted other treatments," said Susie Novis, President and Co-founder of the IMF. Edith Mitchell, M.D., FACP, a medical oncologist, has been named the 2012 recipient of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Humanitarian Award for her personification of the society’s mission and values, and for going above and beyond the call of duty in providing outstanding patient care. “A big part of my work over the course of my career has focused on helping those in need of medical care—to reach those who have no access to it, who have no opportunities for health, and no means to seek out conventional medical advice,” said Dr. Mitchell.
