New Drug Data Challenge Ways We Treat Myeloma


 

In his blog this week, IMF Chairman Dr. Brian Durie reviews the key highlights of the annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the 2015 International Myeloma Working Group (IMWG) Summit. Data from clinical trials of the monoclonal antibodies elotuzumab and daratumumab dominated discussions at both events, and Dr. Durie considers the challenges these new drugs present for how we treat myeloma. IMF Applauds Bipartisan Introduction of Oral Parity Legislation


 

Late last week, lawmakers from both parties introduced congressional legislation to ensure access to the best cancer treatments for patients across America. The Cancer Drug Coverage Parity Act will correct misaligned insurance coverage policies that result in high costs for orally administered anticancer treatments. “The IMF is excited about this bipartisan effort to fix a major problem facing America’s cancer patients,” said Susie Novis, IMF President and Co-founder, in the IMF’s statement of support.
