IMF Makes Waves at the ASH Annual Meeting

The IMF played a major role at the ASH Annual Meeting held in San Francisco over the past week. From important research studies presented by members of the IMF’s International Myeloma Working Group (IMWG) to IMF events and programs hosted to reach physicians, researchers, and patients, the IMF was front and center at this important global conference, attended by more than 20,000 people. During the IMF’s “IMWG Conference Series: Making Sense of Treatment,” top myeloma experts analyzed how data presented at the conference will affect patient treatment now and in the future. IMF's ASH Social Media Team Blog: Michael Tuohy

Twelve support group leaders (SGLs) attending the ASH annual meeting with the IMF had the opportunity to attend dozens of data presentations and many IMF events. In blog posts and on social media throughout ASH, they reported on the events and shared their reactions. CLICK HERE to read a blog from Michael Tuohy, co-founder of the Connecticut Multiple Myeloma Fighters, about the IMF’s Brian D. Novis Research Grant Awards Ceremony, a highlight for many SGLs. Michael wrote, “This is one of my favorite events at ASH. At the reception, I had the pleasure of speaking with one of the grant winners, who told me about his project to target and kill myeloma cells. Now that’s what a patient loves to hear – kill those myeloma cells!”

IMF & Support Group Team Members Influence Social Media @ #ASH14

The IMF and its support group team members ruled the social media scene during ASH by sharing the latest updates on Twitter, Facebook, and blogs. The social media analytics company Symplur reports that IMF’s social media team members were among the Top Ten by number of tweets during the ASH meeting, an impressive feat considering that more than 20,000 people attended this major medical conference!
