New Studies Shed Light on Diet, Obesity in Myeloma and the Anti-Aging Power of Young Blood

Research studies published in medical journals this week could have important implications for myeloma patients down the road. A study published in the journal Leukemia looks at cell pathways that could help explain the link between obesity and myeloma. Two other studies identify molecules in the blood of young animals that have a beneficial effect on several health issues in older animals. Arizona's Fair Access to Cancer Treatment Signed into Law

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer signed HB 2078 (the Fair Access to Cancer Treatment bill) into law last week, requiring insurance plans that already cover cancer treatments to reimburse for oral anticancer treatments at the same rate as IV treatments. With the passing of this law, a total of 33 states plus the District of Columbia have passed similar legislation to protect cancer patients.
