Changing Patient Care in Multiple Myeloma: The IMF Nurse Leadership Board’s Long-Term Survivorship Care Plan
PowerPoint presentation of the slides presented on May 13, 2010 by the Nurse Leadership Board in an accredited satellite symposium in conjunction with the 35rd Annual Congress of the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) in San Diego, CA

Novel therapies provide hope for extended disease-free periods for multiple myeloma patients. At the IMF-sponsored lunch symposium for oncology nurses who care for patients with multiple myeloma, the IMF's Nurse Leadership Board (NLB) discussed the key long-term sequelae and side effects of multiple myeloma and its treatment. In addition, this symposium introduced the leadership role nurses can engage in by implementing long-term survivorship care for their patients. Survivorship care planning allows for optimal management of emergent late-term effects and improves patients' quality of life.
