Dr. Chen was bon in Tainan, Taiwan, Republic of China in 1949. He graduated and completed both his internship and residency from the National Taiwan University Medical School. Dr. Chen then went to Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois to do his fellowship in hematology.
Professor Chen was the Visiting Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Tokyo, Japan in 1989 and visiting consultant at the King Fahd Hospital, Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1990. Dr. Chen was appointed Professor of Hematology/Oncology in 1990. Dr. Chen belongs to many medical societies among them the ASH, BMT Society of ROC, International Society of Hematology and the Asian Pacific Bone Marrow Transplantation Group where he has held the position of Secretary General and Vice President.
He has written numerous papers and several book chapters. His interests include research in Allogeneic BMT, high dose therapy with BM and PB stem cell support and stem cell biology and applications, to name a few.
Professor Chen works in the Division of Hematology/Oncology, Department of Laboratory Medicine and Internal Medicine at the National Taiwan University Medical School.
