Dr. Amiot put forward a discussion on IL-6, a major MM factor that induces activation of multiple cell survival pathways. Dr. Amiot’s studies found 3 major isoforms that are expressed in MM cell lines. These isoforms are also negatively regulated by IL-6. Dr. Amiot proposed that disruption of cell interactions may present a novel therapeutic approach in the treatment of MM.
