Medicare Program to Cover Thalidomide Still Available—Apply Now
All myeloma patients taking thalidomide who receive Medicare coverage under Part A and Part B should take advantage of the Medicare Replacement Drug Demonstration program...NOW!
The first application deadline is fast approaching. Patients accepted into the demonstration can have up to 90% of their thalidomide costs covered through December 31, 2005
when the full Medicare prescription drug benefit is scheduled to go into effect.
This is a unique opportunity that should not be missed. The application is only three pages long for patients and one page for physicians.
If you know of Medicare beneficiaries who are currently taking thalidomide, please inform them about this program as soon as possible
Applications can be downloaded at the Medicare website (www.cms.hhs.gov/researchers/demos/drugcoveragedemo.asp) or you can call 866-563-5387 if you have questions. You can also call Debbie or Nancy at the IMF at 800-452-CURE for further details.
